In the world of automobiles, some cars do not get the value they deserve during their existence, despite their excellence. However, such vehicles pull off a surprise when they come out as rare collector items after some time when their brilliance gets remembered, but then, they are few for grabs. The Mercury Milan Voga is one such car – a limited edition version of the premium sedan from the now-defunct American brand Mercury, which has some lovable cars in its long history as a carmaker.

The Milan was the last all-new nameplate introduced by Ford-owned Mercury, which remained in existence till Ford decided to pull the plug off Mercury globally in 2010. The Milan ended its run as Mercury’s highest-selling car in its last year. It also had a super-elusive special-edition version, the Mercury Milan Voga, of which only two examples were built.

One of these two rare limited-edition versions of the nearly-forgotten Mercury Milan is now up for grabs through an auction set to take place next month. While it has a few exclusive add-ons over the standard Mercury Milan, it also has an exclusive Ford GT connection, which makes it worth noticing.

The Mercury Milan Voga, which will go online for bidding at Mecum Auctions in September 2022, was previewed by Mercury at Miami Fashion Week in 2006. The primary intention of this exclusive version of the Milan was to attract Latino customers to the brand. According to Mercury, the Milan Voga was a ‘one of a kind’ car which showcased the authentic Hispanic culture of that time.

Mercury made only two units of the Milan Voga, with both of them for display at Miami Fashion Week to gauge the customer response. However, unfortunately, it never went into production floors. With this decision, these two units of the Mercury Milan Voga became rare collector items.

It is not the first time that this Mercury Milan Voga is going under the hammer of an auction for the first time. Soon after its global preview at the Miami Fashion Week, the car went for auction on eBay to benefit a charity for empowering Hispanic women. At that time, the person, who won this auction, got the keys of this Milan Voga at an event by the renowned Latino actress Roselyn Sanchez.

Mercury had stated that the exclusive Mercury Milan Voga had input from the designer of the iconic Ford GT, Camilo Pardo. And it is because of this that you can see a few design highlights in the Mercury Milan Voga that remind you of the Ford GT.

There are two design elements in the exterior look of the Mercury Milan Voga, which instantly build up a Ford GT connection. First is the presence of two spoilers at the rear – one above the rear windscreen and one above the boo lid, while the second trait is an exclusive 3D carbon grounds effect package.

But that's not all - this Mercury Milan Voga boasts of a few other exterior bits which give it an altogether different personality over the standard Milan. The car has a rich-looking Mar Azul Blue paint scheme, which looks as pristine as a newly-manufactured car off the factory floors. This blue paint offers a nice contrast to the stainless steel roof.

The Mercury Milan Voga also received a custom body kit, including side skirts and front and rear bumper skirts, which match the Mar Azul Blue color of the car and give it a low-slung stance. Lastly, it gets a polished aluminum finish for the 20-inch alloy wheels from HRE, the front grille, fog lamp housings, lower air dam, and boot lid garnish.

Step into the cabin of this Mercury Milan Voga, and you will be impressed with the attention-to-detailing this car has. According to Mercury’s statement from the past, this car has a cabin which is a ‘study in contrasts'.

The highlight of this car is the polished aluminum finish for the entire center console surrounding the audio system and AC vents. In addition, this aluminum finish is available on the dashboard trim to the left of the steering wheel and co-passenger side, transmission lever surround, steering wheel spokes, and inside door handles.

Other highlights adding contrast to the cabin is the Mar Azul Blue finish for the upper part of the central dashboard and the contrast Mar Azul Blue stitching on the seats and front center armrest. The ‘Arena Sand’ beige-colored leather seats and floor mats of this car also come imprinted with Voga insignias.

With all this special visual treatment, this Mercury Milan Voga gets no tweaks to the engine sitting under the hood. It gets the same 3.0-liter naturally-aspirated V6 gasoline engine, which like in the standard Mercury Milan, produces 221 hp of maximum power and 205 lb-ft of maximum torque outputs.

This Milan Voga is there on the official website of Mecum Auctions. In the auction details, it is mentioned that this car has a 3-speed automatic transmission. However, the Mercury Milan never received this transmission. Instead, it had the options of a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic, and going by the image of the interior, it is the 6-speed automatic gearbox that should be in this particular car.

For now, Mecum Auctions has not listed the price of this car on its website. However, given how rare and pristinely kept it is, don’t get surprised if it goes off for a higher-than-expected value.
