The 2022 Acura RDX makes its debut sporting a mid-cycle that sees major technology and safety enhancements along with refined styling. The 2022 RDX will arrive at dealerships nationwide in November.

The RDX is the best-selling SUV in its segment for the last 15 years and the refinements that Acura has made are designed to strengthen that position.

For the 2022 model year, Acura will sell the RDX in nine variants. The RDX base model, RDX with Technology Package and RDX A-Spc with Technology Package are available in front- or all-wheel drive. The new RDX A-Spec with Advance Package and RDX PMC Edition are only available with all-wheel drive. Pricing has yet to be announced.

Revisions to the exterior are inspired by the 2022 Acura MDX, which was redesigned and signals the start of the model's fourth generation. Its grille is now thinner with a chrome surround in most RDX variants (A-Spec models get theirs in gloss black, which matches the color of their lower intake, door, window and headlight trim). It has a larger air intake and new front fascia designed to make the RDX appear wider.

LED fog lights with chrome surrounds are now standard on RDX A-Spec and Advance Package models.

Rear fascia changes and new rectangular dual exhaust finishers make the back unique. RDX A-Spec models continue to have gloss black large-diameter round exhaust finishers and have black taillight surrounds accompanying more aggressive fascia.

All RDX models roll on 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels. The 19-inchers have a 10-spoke design. Opting for the Technology package gives them a machined face and Pewter Gray accents. RDX models with the Advance Package get five-spoke machined finished 19-inch wheels with RDX A-Spec SUVs with the Advance Package have new 15-spoke wheels.

Acura will sell the 2022 RDX in a variety of exterior paint colors including the new Liquid Carbon Metallic. A Phantom Violet Pearl paint job is offered on RDX models equipped with the Technology and Advance Packages.

New for 2022, all Advance Package models get power folding side mirrors and an advanced damper system, which is designed to offer a smoother ride.

All RDXs come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 272 horsepower. It's paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Paddle shifters are standard. All-wheel drive is available.

Acura has made the 2022 RDX's throttle and braking systems more responsive than in the outgoing model. The SUV also now has four distinct drive modes: Normal, Comfort, Sport and Snow.

Changes to the RDX's interior are designed to make it quieter and sportier. Active noise control technology works to keep road and engine noise at bay, helped by a lower idling speed for the engine. Additionally, there is new insulation in the front doors, dashboard and D-pillar. Models that come equipped with the Technology Package also get new, thicker carpet.

Moving up to the Advance Package gets buyers the quietest RDX ever made with added sound deadening insulation on the dashboard, under the hood and over the drivetrain tunnel. Rear doors get acoustic glass and additional insulation while the cargo area has additional cargo bins with sound insulation and the liftgate features sound deadening materials.

Like in the 2022 MDX, genuine aluminum and open pore wood trim are available in the new RDX.

A-Spec models get a unique flat-bottom steering wheel and metallic trim with a "Dark Y" pattern on the doors, dashboard and center console. Ultrasuede inserts feature on the seats, dash and doors.

A new Orchid leather interior option is available exclusively on the A-Spec with Advance Package.

The compact SUV's standard equipment list includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a USB-C charging port and Amazon Alexa. A digital speedometer is now part of the instrument cluster.

A wireless smartphone charging pad and LED ambient lighting are available as part of the Technology Package. Advance Package buyers get added remote engine start and a 12-volt power outlet in the cargo area.

The SUV's key fob is new.

For 2022, Acura has given the RDX standard blind spot monitoring technology that extends nearly 100 feet behind the vehicle, four times further than before.

Standard front and rear sensors on Technology Package models allow Acura to offer front and rear low-speed braking.

Every RDX comes with AcuraWatch, a suite of driver assist and safety technology that includes traffic sign recognition, forward collision alert with emergency braking and pedestrian detection, and rear seatbelt reminder.

The SUV's rear outboard seatbelts now feature pre-tensioning and load-limiting technology that is designed to lessen the harshness of a crash.

The tier-topping 2022 RDX PMC Edition is the most premium RDX customers will be able to buy. It comes standard with a long list of features including fog lights, all-wheel drive, a head-up display, surround view camera, rear outboard heated seats, and 16-way power-adjustable front seats.

Its exterior is set apart from the rest of the RDX lineup thanks to its gloss black door handles, outside mirrors, roof and roof antenna. It gets A-Spec badging and rolls on Berlina Black 15-spoke 20-inch wheels. There's large round exhaust outlets finished in dark chrome out back.

Acura will make the model available in one paint color: Long Beach Blue Pearl. It will exclusively have an Orchid Milano leather interior scheme with blue contrast stitching. Unique floor mats are included.

Production is limited to just 200 units, making it Acura' most exclusive PMC Edition to date. Each model will be individually numbered and have a serial plaque.

To ready for delivery, the RDX PMC Edition undergoes a five-day paint process before being hand-assembled. They undergo the same quality control process as the Acura NSX before being wrapped and transported to the dealership in an enclosed car carrier.
