These companies removing the charger aren't doing it because they car... more Same thing goes to companies that include the charger in the box but ask a lot of money. So you basically dont get the charger for free, you are paying the charger in the first place. Take for example this Xperia 10 IV. Yes it has the charger in the box, compared to A53 for example, but its more expensive and inferior in most things, making the free charger irrelevant. Same thing for Xperia 1 IV. It will have a charger in the box Sony says in retail packages, but the starting price is 1400euros, one of the most expensive non foldable flagships on the market.

Why not just use 778g and a bigger main sensor? This is underpowered against its competitors. This is a reason I couldn't buy this

Where's the 5 IV? €500 to €1,400 is a big jump between models.

These companies removing the charger aren't doing it because they car... more It's weird because Sony's profits are already shanked, so they will not do much by removing their charger, not that they could do by improving their marketing anyway. I think it's more about the same reason why companies remove headphone jack, because it's just a little simple thing that they can do away with.

Anders, 11 May 2022It's total BS. These companies removing the charger aren't doing it because they car... more Typical guard dog barking at the postman and playing with the thief. SONY has state of the art battery care functions in its phones, like my Xperia 5 ii, where they even take the space to explain and educate users on why batteries degrade and what can be done to prolong their life, they then give us a wide set of choices to preserve battery health in a more or less radical way. I couldn't be happier with how respectful and informative Sony choose to be. It was a pricey phone (for me) that I like a lot and they're giving me all the tools to make it last. They care.

This new phone vs. Huawei P30 (launched Mar-2019): - TOP PROBLEM: Sony has no official security update policy published somewhere so you don't know how long this phone will receive security updates (commonly it's just 2 years) vs. Huawei doesn't have one either but I just received an update for my P30 bringing the security update level to 01-Feb-2022 (i.e. 3 years since launch), - IP65/68 v. IP53, - smaller display (84 v. 91 cm^2), - worse CPU (~80% less horsepower) & much worse GPU (~50% less), - much worse cameras (in every way), - worse DAC (24 v. 32 bit), - larger battery (but my P30 easily lasts 2 to 3 days) I'm in the market for a new < 150 mm tall phone with above average specs and I *HATE* how my only good value (!) options are: Samsung Galaxy S22 or something from the iPhone 13 lineup simply because I need 3-5 years of security updates and specs powerful enough to last that long. These are the only matches! Exactly one phone from the whole Android world or endure the pain of switching to iOS, which I'll very likely end up doing because I've seen no hint of a hope of anything getting close to the iPhone 13 mini.

Rosso, 11 May 2022I hate whole "look, we made our box smaller by not including a charger" bs, yes, you... more It's total BS. These companies removing the charger aren't doing it because they care about the environment. If they did they would make batteries user replaceable to extend the lifespan of their phones more easily. They're just removing things to increase their profit margins

This is a no nonsense but boring phone The Xperia 10 series is Sony value for money smartphones I hope this one is,if it is then it would make sense to buy rather than the competition

A bit disappointing for having 128Gb internal storage for a midrange phone in 2022, but I guess corners need to be cut to keep the price down since the Sony brand tax persists across all price points. Should have at least added a cable in the box. The zero carbon virtue signalling is just another form of indirect taxation.

Anonymous, 11 May 2022Who cares about Sony these days? They are simply impossible to find anywhere, non existant sup... more Most are subsidized by carrier in japan, after year or two you get them really cheap, xperia 1/5 now goes as cheap as $120 shopee.

I think the biggest upgrade this year is the OIS. FKIN FINALLY! It seems Sony is indeed listening to customer's feedback and thats really, really great. We will see whats next for Xperia this year, since we still dont know if there will be a 5 IV or not

Emre, 11 May 2022Sony phones have some minor things that other fancy brands doesnt care like type-c 3.1 video o... more Lol water resistance is not a minor thing at all! OP is right, you can get way, way better phones for the same money vs Sony.

It's disappointing that they have basically released the SAME phone again but now it doesn't have a glass back or a charger included but I bet it will be the same RRP. Really looks like Sony isn't even trying to innovate anymore to gain market share.

Nothing wrong with a good Sony Xperia they are quality through and through.

I had been using sony 10 ii for almost two years now and it is hands down the worst phone I had ever bought. It was way overpriced, slow, and the camera is a joke (how it works and quality) beaten by phones costing two times less. It is hard to believe for me it was not completely shredded in its reviews. I regret buying it and the fact that I could not returned it right away.

Disney Furry , 11 May 2022I'm surprised that Sony phones have consumers, like there are way better options to choos... more Keep getting surprised. Sony makes profit from smartphone.
