The Jeep Wrangler family has expanded, and The Willy's package now includes off-roading gears without the exorbitant price of the Rubicon trim.
Jeep used the occasion of the Detroit Auto Show 2022 to introduce the newest member of the Wrangler family to the public. It is the most popular plug-in hybrid in the United States, following the huge commercial success of the Wrangler 4xe. The Willys, Jeep’s retro-Wrangler with Second World War-inspired appearance, will now have a hybrid engine. The renowned company goes a step further by providing a model that is even more effective off the rails.
The new Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe makes its introduction, an off-road vehicle made for 4×4 and electric enthusiasts. The silent thrust of an electric motor is definitely helpful when you are far apart from home. It does more than just tout plug-in hybrid technology. It stands apart because of how they configure it to be driven away from the pavement. For the new Jeep, the specifications, powertrain, and battery pack have not changed. The only changes made are mechanical and aesthetic. The basic price of the Willys 4xe is $53,995, excluding a $7,500 tax credit and the $1,595 destination cost. The Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe is now the most affordable trim in the expanding plug-in hybrid lineup for the company.

A plug-in hybrid technology powers the new Wrangler Willys 4xe (PHEV). Two electric motors and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine make up the powertrain. With a maximum torque of 470 lb-ft, the total power output is 375 horsepower.
This is the most sophisticated power plant a Jeep Wrangler has ever had. The 400-volt, 17-kWh, 96-cell lithium-ion battery pack for the Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe makes use of nickel, manganese and cobalt (NMC) graphite chemistry. They hid the battery under the second-row seat, shielded from the outdoors. The Wrangler Willys 4xe has an available Sun and Screen package that features Jeep’s One-Touch power roof and Uconnect 4C NAV system. To welcome rock tracks, they’ve used 17-inch black alloy wheels with 255/75 mud-terrain tires. Jeep also outfitted the Willys 4xe with LED headlights and fog lights as standard features. On the hood, Willy’s decal can also be seen, and the Jeep and Trail Rated badges, as well as the front and rear tow hooks, are all accented in Electric Blue. Other features of the Wrangler Willys 4xe include an Alpine 9-speaker radio system and all-weather floor mats.
The plug-in hybrid system’s capabilities can be fully utilized by using the selectable driving modes E Select. There are three modes available: electric, hybrid, and eSave. The first of these combines the power of the electric motor and the 2.0-liter engine. The off-roader operates as an EV while in electric mode up until the battery drains to zero or the driver fully depresses the pedal.
